Historic Achievement of Kanyashree Prakalpa

The historic "Kanyashree Project" was launched by the chief minister of West Bengal  Ms. Mamata Banerjee in 2013 is now bearing the fruits of her out-standing farsightedness.

This scheme was launched on 1st October in 2013. The first Kanyashree Dibas was celebrated on 14th August in 2014 in every block of the state. On that day, the chief minister felicitated 50 girls students for their achievement in different competition as well as distributed prizes. The purpose of the scheme was to improve the life and the status of the girls by helping economically backward families with cash so that the families do not arrange the marriage of the girls before 18 years. The aim of the scheme was also to uplift those girls who are from poor families and thus cann't purse their higher studies due to the tough of economic conditions. It has been given international recognition by the United Kingdoms Department of International Development and UNICEF. Recently West Bengal Government is honoured with U.N.Public Service Award for Kanyashree Prakalpa..
